This website contains a selection of photos from our recent holiday in Southern Africa.
We had a wonderful time on our first trip to the Southern Hemisphere. It felt like three holidays in one, because of the three distinct legs to the trip - Big Game Safari, Lake Malawi tropical paradise and, finally, seascapes and bright lights in Cape Town.
The trip was excellently organised for us by Pierre at Cedarberg Travel (find them at www.cedarbergtravel.com ) using recent and local knowledge on safari lodges and the off-beat aspects of tourism in Malawi.
Where and when
Leaving a cold and wet Gatwick on the evening of 18 December, we spent 4 nights in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, 1 in Jo'burg, 6 in Malawi (including Ben's birthday and Christmas!) and 4 in Cape Town, before returning to an astonishingly cold Gatwick early on the morning of 3 January. After 9 flights mostly connecting through Jo'burg airport, we became expert at negotiating airport transfers, although we did miss our first connection on the way in, and lost a bag (mostly full of dirty laundry!) on the way back.
